Requirements to Sit for the Connecticut CPA Exam

There are a few basic requirements that you must meet in order to qualify to sit for the Connecticut CPA Exam. First you must have earned at least a Baccalaureate degree with 150 hours of coursework. You will need at least 36 semester hours of accounting coursework, as well as 30 semester hours of economics and business administration courses that are non-accounting in nature. Connecticut doesn’t have any age restrictions for becoming a CPA nor do they require U.S. citizenship or even state residency.

Application Process

The first step in the application process is to download or request a complete application package. This can be found on the Connecticut State Board of Public Accountancy’s website. Here you will find fees charges for the packet and a mailing address. You will need to then complete the application packet and mail it back along with all required documents and supplemental documents. You will also need to request that your college or university send your transcripts directly to the Connecticut State Board of Public Accountancy to prove that you have met the educational requirements needed to sit for the Connecticut CPA Exam.
