Known for their strong recruiting year in and year out, the Oklahoma Sooners are well on their way to making the class of 2008 one of their best ever. Among the school's prize recruits this year are running back Jermie Calhoun, quarterback Landry Jones, and defensive end R.J. Washington, three of the nations best high school seniors.

Jermie Calhoun:

Calhoun is an Adrian Peterson type runner with an academic Achilles' heel. This big powerful runner posses both the speed and the vision to make Sooner fans start thinking they have another Peterson on board for 2008. The only thing that might keep that dream from becoming a reality is academic eligibility. Calhoun still has some work to do on the schooling side of the ledger, including getting himself a decent score on the ACT. Though he posses 4.4 speed for the 40 and is a load to bring down on the open field, the 6-1, 210 pound running back from Van Texas, is rumored to have scared away some top schools like the University of Texas because of his school work. In this case, the Longhorn's loss might just be the Sooner's gain.

Jermie is coming off a junior year that was almost a duplicate of his great sophomore season, gaining 1,653 yards in 2005 and 1,726 yards last year. He also added 23 touchdowns his junior year which was one more than he had his previous season. Watching this kid play might remind you more of a young Hershel Walker than an Adrian Peterson, though either comparison would place him high on the list of high school recruits to watch in 2008.

Landry Jones:

  • Jermie Calhoun is the top running back recruit coming out of Texas in 2008.
  • Landry Jones is a four star recruit out of New Mexico who will be joining Oklahoma in 2008.
  • R.J. Washington is a top defensive talent set to join the Sooners in 2008.
