In previous articles, we've discussed how massage therapy impacts every single functional system within our body. It's pretty safe to say, with few exceptions,
massage therapy is a very beneficial resource and a great alternative to some traditional forms of treatment for pain and injury, not to mention some illnesses.
Just in case you aren't convinced, though, here are a few more reasons to consider massage and how it can positively impact your life:
Massage therapy helps to reduce fatigue and improves sleep patterns. The proof is in the pudding, folks! Most people who have a massage report sleeping very well that evening. Massage therapy may not improve sleep for those with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but that applies to a person who is experiencing acute symptoms.
Massage therapy will improve your mood. Your improved mood will lead to decreased feelings of anger. Those feelings of anger may have been caused by your job related or post-traumatic stress, but those feelings may be reduced as well!
Massage therapy may enhance your body image and increase your self-esteem. Feeling relaxed leads to a more positive outlook on life. Did I mention that massage therapy is great for teenagers? I have met very few adolescents who did NOT go through a period of low body image and self-esteem. Not only will they overcome these symptoms, but their renewed outlook and relaxed attitude may also lead to increased mental alertness, which will in turn lead to better academic performance!
Your increased physical well-being may lead to positive changes in your regular lifestyle. For example, you may find yourself exercising more, smoking less, drinking less coffee, and visiting the doctor less frequently! Hey - you may even save a few dollars by getting rid of a few vices! You relaxed nature may make social interactions more comfortable and enjoyable, so don't be surprised if you find yourself communicating with people and freely expressing your ideas more often than you were before you started regular massage therapy session!

Chill, Scott - they are great. And I hurt where my clothing touches my skin! So don't worry, just make sure to see a trained professional. My birthday is next week, but my sister got me a pedicure instead. It was nice, but no massage, ): maybe next time. Re insurance, usually they are only covered if done by a physical therapist in the course of therapy for a precise problem. I know; I've been trying for years to get them covered. It all depends on your company, though.

I've never had a massage, but you've inspired me to get one!
