Blessings have been part of my life, my whole church life that is. I've had my house blessed and have been to office blessings. I have felt blessed when something or someone appeared in my life. So it is a familiar part of my world. My church world, that is. For some reason I never took I've the lesson of blessings to my everyday life. Be proactive with it. I had an experience this last year that confirmed that I need to bless everything. I finally had enough of the dirt in my car that was from all the wonderful plants and rocks I received from friends and went to a gas station with a vacuum cleaner to get rid of the mess. It cost 75 cents to use it. So I put my three quarters in, nothing happened. I went inside the building to get either a refund or get the machine working. There were three people working there. Two where standing behind the counter and the third with hidden in a back room somewhere. Guess who had the key? Yeah, it was the guy in the back room, who wasn't in any hurry to come out. I know it was three or four minute wait at least. The wait seemed to last an eternity because I was sick and wanted to go back to bed. Anyway, he finally came out and opened the machine and put my three quarters back in and the machine roared into life. So I vacuumed. Of course one time wasn't enough. Before I put more money into the machine, I stopped and thought about it. Then I blessed my quarters, one at a time. So I blessed quarter number one and put it in the machine. Then I blessed quarter number two and put it in the slot. Immediately, the machine roared into life. My first thought was "Oh my God, blessings do work." Then my second was "I gained a quarter." As I was vacuuming, I got a clear message "Render unto Caesar's what's Caesar's." I'm proud that I only protested once, and then agreed to render the quarter to the gas station attendants. So after the machine stopped, I went back inside to give them the third quarter. The two were very surprised and amazed. I don't know what ripple effect that quarter had, but I know it blessed them in some way.
