New Traceability Technology for Fresh Produce
Leading unit-level identification system Yottamark technologies today announced that its one-of-a-kind fresh product traceability solution HarvestMark will be used in all future Eagle Eye fresh produce batches.
HarvestMark is an advanced tagging system that allows fresh produce such as vegetables and fruits to be traced back to its origins up until where the legume or fruit was picked. With shipping information open to the general public, anyone around the globe can trace the origins of a single
piece (or bulk packages) of fresh produce tagged by HarvestMark via the internet or a cell phone. HarvestMark provides comprehensive data of where the produce came from and the several intermediate locations the produce traveled to get to the consumer. Therefore, HarvestMark's true and precise traceability improves customer buying confidence and in turn improves sales.
With the added confidence given to consumers who are purchasing traceable products, HarvestMark has attracted the interest of the fresh produce distributor, Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye Produce Warehouse Manager Mike Jacobson emphasized the unique technology of HarvestMark, saying "We are pleased to have HarvestMark instant traceability...We'll be able to trace produce all the way back to the original box which in turn will trace it back all the way to the original field where it was grown." Eagle Eye admires the new HarvestMark system which provides unit-level traceability, a feature unattained by Eagle Eye before. Jacobson identifies that prior tagging systems did not go down to unit-level traceability and required a much more tedious process of physically adding stickers to each produce at several locations. HarvestMark is much more efficient and effective in this regard.
