Despairing over getting your blogs ranking out of the tens of thousands on Technorati? It's possible and it doesn't take as long as you might expect, if you know a few handy techniques.

Technorati ranking is different from your authority rating. Authority only counts incoming links within the past six months, and it only includes unique websites. So, if one website links to you five hundred times, your authority will only go up one point.

However, your ranking depends on the number of incoming links, no matter where they are from. To break that top 10,000, you need a lot of links. You should be able to get there within 3-6 months if you are willing to work tirelessly and promote your blog every chance you get. Here's how to sweep your blog out of the millions and into the top 10, 000.

First, you need to provide a high quality blog on a popular niche topic. Do your research to figure out which topic you want to do. If you already have a blog, you can work with the topic you have, as long as it is not too narrow. A blog on trimming cat's claws might not be the best candidate to get into the top 10,000.

Next, you need top quality information. Don't just regurgitate the same old stuff that is everywhere else on the web. Write or hire someone to write, original, unique posts for your blog. This will keep people interested and other blogs will be more likely to link to good posts.

Give link love. This just means linking to other blogs in your posts. Where appropriate and where it will offer more value to your readers, include links to relevant blogs. These blogs will follow the trackback to find out what you are saying about them and if they like what they see, you might just get a link from them.

Comment, comment, comment. This may seem like a very time consuming chore and it is, but it is also a wonderful way to get other bloggers´ attention. Don't stick to just the big blogs, although those might bring you more traffic. Smaller blogs are more likely to link to blogs featured in their comments because they have time to read through all the comments.
