Although innovative and philosophically ahead of their time, Plato and Aristotle did not have the best view of Democratic society and were, in many cases, more communist than liberal. Both philosophers possessed the idea, which cannot exist in a true democratic state, that some people are inherently
better than others, which proved to be a great set back for their views. Whereas Plato attempted to create from within himself a perfect state almost completely neglecting the people within it, Aristotle analyzed various types of states and formulated the best combination while taking into account the individuals that make up the state. In both cases, liberal thoughts were not expressly stated and Aristotle seemed to be the only with traces of such beliefs.
