Cutting Wedding Costs: Tips for Wedding Planning

As I have been planning my own wedding, and wanted to have all the traditional wedding items, I've noticed how expensive it can get. So, I searched around on the internet and in magazines, and came up with a few ways to save some dough.

I really wanted to send my guest home with wedding favors, something to remember this very important occasion. I searched and searched and finally thought of a great idea. Instead of having bubbles for guests to blow at us while we were leaving the wedding and also buy separate favors, I decided to make these actual wedding favors.

I looked around and priced several different internet sites and discount stores. I found packs of 48 count pre-filled bubbles for a mere $4.95 on lakeside.com.This was a great deal considering that I have 140 guests invited.

Of course I wouldn't dare just give a plain white bottle of bubbles and expect it to seem like a wedding favor. So I checked out personalized labels for these bubbles. I found 150 count labels on ebay which say, "Thank-you for sharing in this special day." Chad and Mandy September 29, 2007. All I had to do was attach these self-stick labels to my bubbles, tie a small piece of ribbon, an "viola" the perfect favors.

Now as you know the wedding cake can be expensive. So, I opted for cupcakes instead. I found a local baker who makes them decorated for $.70 each. She also supplied me with a disposable cake tier, and candy daisies to garnish each cupcake with. I purchased the cake topper myself online from a discount site for a mere $15 and the baker was pleased with my initiative, after all one less thing for her to deal with.

I also brought a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like, just search around the net someone has bound to have had a similar idea for a cake. All in all my wedding cake cost me $160.70 not bad for 140 guests to serve.
