Suckered.us: Scam or Simply Not Ready for Prime Time?
Complaining about poor businesses or an organization that cheated you in the past is not exactly a new activity, but I came across a site claiming to pay you to complain most recently. In the time honored tradition of such Internet venting sites as customerssuck.com, patientssuck.com and
thebosssucks.com which are all forums for people to vent their frustrations in the work place, suckered.us claims to exist to not only warn people not to be part of the group that P.T. Barnum exploited so effectively but also to pay you in the process.
After reading through the FAQ, one is left to wonder how the users are supposed to make money off the site. Not one single mentioned is about payouts to people who create subdomains with their service but plenty of questions that deal with how you send money to them. Suckered.us proudly proclaims that you can make money by complaining but completely failing to make clear how they accomplish that goal. If this is simply another multi-level marketing scheme, they must at least learn to promise the users of the site impossible riches or at least a little money if they use their service.
Obviously, the owners of this site do not intend it to be a public service or even public television but the begging for money in your FAQs and sporting Paypal donations completely voids any professional pretensions that those trying to run this as a business may have had. It seems like it was just launched in the last couple of months or so the owners may still be in the learning process.
You get paid $.10 for each subdomains you create acording to their main page and payouts are by Paypal. I have yet to see the minimum payout or if you continue to earn money in anyway from the subdomains. It just seems like a clever way to get someone else to generate content for their site and increase the chances that their ads will be found in search engines such as Google. The faq says that for $1 you can add your own story to an existing subdomain but this is one of the many things in their FAQ that seems to carry all the warning signs of a scam.
