Today you received the news! You're expecting a baby...Congratulations!

It's now 6 months later, you have the crib, the car seat, the blankets, the bottles and mountains of other gear that you are going to need. As you sit down at your kitchen table, your lower back aching, you come to the stunning realization that you have to pick a name for the baby! You have books on feeding the baby, the best activities for the baby, everything but choosing a name. And to make matters worse, the library is closed today. Never fear, you have another option. The world wide web can help you with this enormous project. Especially since the last thing you want to do is name your new daughter, Enid, after your mother. So, for the sake of this article, let's say you are going to have a girl, the ultrasound you had earlier this week, confirms this.

So, let's start with the basics. Are you thinking of ethnic names, family names or even the name of your favorite actor? Don't worry, I almost named my son after the actor who played Commander Riker on Star Trek, Jonathon Frakes.

For starters, pull up you favorite search engine on the Net and put in the words Baby Names. There are hundreds of sites that pull up, so start with the first one. The first one I found was

Baby Names World:

Baby Names.Com:

The New Baby Name Index:

Baby Center: Baby Name Finder:

Parenthood.com: Baby Names:

Baby Zone: Baby Names:

Social Security: Baby Names:

American Baby: Baby Names:

As you continue the search for the perfect name, you start making a list of names you like besides Caitleen or Amie. You bookmark the sites above and prepare to go off to the doctor for another ultrasound. That's when you receive the exciting news, you are actually having twins!

Go heavens, now you need two sets of names. You happily recall that one of the sites has a listing for names for Twins, and off you go to Baby Zone. So, you browse the site for some more ideas, but eventually give in. The Twins will be Caitleen Elizabeth and Amie Abigail. Your work here is done.
