Carrey auditioned to be a cast member of NBC's Saturday Night Live show, but he was turned down. In 1983, things were looking up again when Jim Carrey earned a bit part in the film "Rubberface." He also won the leading role in NBC's The Duck Factory show. In 1985, he got a part in the movie Once Bitten.
A little known fact about Jim Carrey is that he grew up in poverty. Now that he was earning a good living, he moved his parents from Toronto to Los Angeles. But, the show ended after just thirteen weeks. Both movies were flops, and Carrey was soon broke again. He sadly moved his parents back to Canada.
In the meantime, Jim Carrey found love, and he married Melissa Womer on March 28, 1987. Their daughter, Jane Erin Carrey was born in September of 1987.
