A Chicago police report stated On Tuesday night on the near Southwest Side neighborhood of Lawndale in Chicago, a 21-year-old man, Pierre Parker, was arrested by police and taken to jail for hitting a 7-year-old boy with his sport-utility vehicle. The entire accident was a hit-and-run, as the drunk Parker fled the scene after hitting the young boy.
Not only was Parker, from the 4300 block of W. 17th Street, cited for drunk driving, he was also cited with "striking a pedestrian in the roadway, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and not having a driver's license or insurance," police News Affairs said. All of the charges are felony crimes and could put Parker behind bars for years.
The intoxicated Parker was traveling eastward on W. 15th Street in his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Suddenly, he hit the 7-year-old boy who was simply crossing the street on the 1500th block of South Kedvale Avenue in Chicago at around 6:30 p.m.
The boy was mostly in shock and injured from the accident. He was immediately taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in what the police report considered in "stable condition."
Police reported that Parker knew he had hit the boy and stopped for a moment. When he realized what had happened, he fled south on Kedvale Avenue. Luckily, police caught him later in the evening.
As previously stated, criminal charges are being pressed against Parker.
