Phantasm Creator Don Coscarelli Plans Phantasm V

The Tall man and company are coming back to the movie screens, according to Dread Central.

Phantasm creator Don Coscarelli is planning a 4th sequel to his popular cult horror series. A Phantasm V has been in the works for a long time.

"I hate to tell you this, but as of now the epic Phantasm project, which was originally called Phantasm 1999 and had a script by Roger Avary, will definitely not be made, the screenplay was hyper violent, epic in scope, had a terrific role for Bruce Campbell in it, but we just couldn't

find a studio exec who was visionary enough to see the potential." Coscarelli said.

But we will be getting a new Phantasm film.

"The fans and the cast members are always asking me when the next one's going to be as well, so we rolled around ideas and finally we have a screenplay written. It's really quite interesting in that it answers a lot of questions; now it's just a question of finding the opportunity to get this thing going." Says Coscarelli.

The new screenplay is written by Coscarelli and Steve Ramano, who wrote Coscarelli's Master of Horror episode "Incident Off and On a Mountain Road".

The original Phantasm was released in 1979 and was about 2 brothers and their friend facing The Tall Man, a supernatural and sadistic undertaker who turns the dead into dwarf zombies to do his bidding and take over the world. The Tall Man uses flying silver balls that contain a lethal pair of spiked blades and a drill that destroys the victim's brain. A sequel, Phantasm II was released in 1988 and was about Mike and Reggie, the survivors of the original film, traveling on the road to find out more about the deadly Tall Man and his minions. Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead, followed in 1993 and was released straight to video. In that chapter, Reggie and some new friends try to rescue Mike from The Tall Man, who has some sinister plans for him.

Make Part 5 already.... BOYYYYY! I love this series and its my personal favorite horror Series. The ending of Oblivion sort of left me with a feeling of emptyness and Well I wont spoil anything but this series needs a definative ending with no loose ends.
