Never before has anyone attempted to do a true comparative study of all of the Mexican restaurants in the Triangle area. It would be too difficult. There are too many. Now Lynn from Wake Forest and Emily from Raleigh have decided to take on the burden of reviewing Mexican restaurants for the benefit of not only the Triangle area but the world as a whole. Can they do it? We'll find out one taco at a time.

This week's Mexican adventure takes us to Las Margaritas in Wake Forest: a true hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that is also a true dining delight. Lynn is a huge fan of Las Margaritas saying "I've loved it for so long it holds a special place in my heart." Emily isn't so sure Las Margaritas is the whole enchilada. Let's see how it faired when we made the trip:

Salsa & Chips: 2.5 Margaritas

Our chips were stale, and there was not enough kick to the salsa. If you're a big cilantro fan then you're in for a disappointment. The salsa did have a little spice to it but not nearly the kick you expect when dining at a Mexican restaurant. The salsa consistency was more like a soup than a salsa and the combo with slightly stale chips made it a big miss for us.

Service: 3.5 Margaritas

Our wait staff was friendly and we were seated quickly, but had a good size wait before we were asked to order. After ordering, our food came rather quickly and our waiter was good about refilling our drinks.

Meal: Emily: 3 Margaritas, Lynn: 4. 5 Margaritas

Emily: I ordered the #10 Combinaciones which consisted of a Burrito, Enchilada, and Taco. I went with all Chicken for all three. The Burrito and Enchilada were both pretty substantial, so substantial in fact that I actually didn't get to eat the Taco I was so full. It looked tasty though. The chicken was all cooked with what looked to be onions and green peppers, and those vegetables were pretty prevalent in all of my food. They weren't bad, but definitely not what I am used to with chicken dishes at Mexican restaurants.
