TBI Missing Persons List: Franco Mendoza

Missing children, whether kidnapped, lost, or run-away's are a growing problem in the United States. Tennessee certainly is no exception. Amber Alert, the nationwide information system to alert citizens of lost or missing children has assisted in recovering many missing children. The Amber Alert was issued for the following missing child, however to date; this missing child has not been found. The Amber Alert System was implemented in 1996 after Amber Hagerman, 9, was abducted, and brutally murdered near her home in Texas. The Amber Alert program implements the use of radio and television airways to broadcast information about missing children in order to notify communities as quickly as possible after a child is reported missing. To qualify for an Amber Alert the missing child must be under the age of seventeen, must be in imminent danger, and there must be either a description of the child, vehicle, or the suspect.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation publishes a list of missing persons, similar to the list of most wanted criminals. This list includes run-away's and suspected kidnapped victims and is easily accessible via their website. This series of articles will spotlight briefly on each subject.
