Wedding cost are on the rise. Here are some simple ways to save on your big day without ruining your dream.

Wedding and Bridesmaid Dress
There are some great places to shop for a wedding dress other then the big bridal shops. Target.com has become a great place to find a wedding or bridesmaid dress for a fraction of the cost. Also stores like JCPenney's evening wear and prom sections have many dresses suitable for a simple wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses. Auction sites on-line have also become a very popular place to find the gown of your dreams without breaking the bank.

Location
If you or your parents are a member of a church sometimes they will waive or reduce the fee for holding a wedding. Also check out local gardens or outdoor locations many of those are cheaper then you would expect. State parks are a popular place for weddings some have very beautiful spots to hold an outdoor wedding. Try scheduling your wedding for an off season time. There will be less competition for whatever spot you pick. Home weddings can also be very beautiful. Think about holding your wedding at your's or a friend's house.

Flowers
Pick flowers that are in season. Spring is the best time for irises, violets, daffodils, and tulips. The best summer time flower is lilies. Some fall flowers include sunflowers and orange blossoms. Some flowers that will cost the most are white blooms, roses and orchids. Also check to see what flowers are grown locally. Local flowers are often much cheaper.

Discount Club Stores
Discount stores can have some surprising wedding accessories for less then other stores. Check your local stores for wedding invitations, guest books, and receptions items. Most big discount stores also have reasonably priced engagement and wedding rings.

Guest list
It might be painful to do but try to trim down the guest list. Most caterers, restaurants and banquet halls charge by the person so bringing down the guest list can really cut cost. A good rule is to not invite more guests than you can spend one minute of time with.

Great tips! I went to Deb's and got my bridesmaids dresses for about $50 a piece (it was prom season) and I hired my brothers band to play at our reception for only $100. You are right, weddings can be very expensive, but as long as you know what you can cut back on, you'll leave room to be able to afford the things you really want to splurge on.

Excellent tips, we tried a few of these for my nephew, but his new bride wasn't having any of it. The more money she spent the better. I hope it isn't that way throughout.
