Three Easy Wedding Craft Ideas

Making you own wedding crafts can save you time and money. Wedding crafts are easier to make than you think and can even become precious family heirlooms. You can find some materials around the house or at your local craft shop or department store. Here are three easy wedding craft ideas to get you started.

Ceremony Flowers

What is a wedding without flowers? Wedding flowers do not have to cost a fortune. You can make inexpensive bouquet, boutonnières, and flower girl baskets yourself. For a simple bouquet, purchase several silk roses, floral tape, and ribbon. Bunch several flowers together and secure with floral tape. Tie ribbon around the stem and attach longer ribbon to drag the floor if desired. You can use real flowers but artificial ones are easier to work with. Make the bridesmaids' bouquets in the same way.

To make boutonnières, use a small, single white flower. Add some greenery and secure with floral tape. Remember men do not like anything fancy so do not use too many embellishments. For corsages, bunch an odd number of flowers together. Add fillers, ribbons, and secure with floral tape. Weave pin back through ribbon. Purchase small baskets for the flower girls and fill with flowers. Decorate baskets with matching ribbons.

Ring Bearer Pillow

For a ring bearer pillow, you will need two eight or ten inch square s of fabric, lace, stuffing, and ribbon. If possible, use the same fabric from the wedding dress. Add embellishments or embroidery before sewing. On straight edge of fabric square, loosely pin lace on right side. Pin fabric loosely with right sides together. Make sure pinned edge of fabric is wedged between the squares. Leaving a ½-inch seam allowance, sew three edges together and insert stuffing. Fold un-sewn edge ½ inch into the pillow and hand stitch closed. Sew on an extra piece of 10-12 inch ribbon and attach rings to the loose strands. Add a bow to hide the stitches.
