The Power of a Word!

I've watched and I've listened,
I've lived and I've learned . . .
I've blamed, and I've heard;
If its trouble, it starts with a word.

They say that the words can't hurt you,
That they can't cut like a knife . . .
But they can I assure you;
With each and every strife.

We've all done it-said things we didn't mean,
Didn't think before we spoke . . .
Said things that were unclean--

And told our share of jokes!

So the next time you have something to say,
Think of the power behind your word. . . .
You have the power to make it through the day;
Not just the power to be heard.

No. - - I don't know what I'm saying 'no' about, but you just felt the power of words. Words get their power through the emotions typically brought about by the words typically around them. In my experience, 'no' is usually a marker accompanying the notification that that you are not receiving something that would be good to think about if you had it. Thus 'no' makes one cringe the stomach for the anticipation of something being taken away ... shadowy, no?

That was an excellent message in that poem. I am a firm believer in the power of words. Great job! :-)
