Some people have made "being a lazy bum" into an art form. When I have time off from work, I certainly fall under this category. I use the power of the internet to make a couple of dollars on the side during those lazy summer months. Heaven forbid, I tell myself as well as others, I should take the time to find a part-time job at a local supermarket. As a teacher, this would probably not benefit me anyway; the embarrassment of waiting on my former students (or even working alongside them) would be enough to take the rest of my life off and claim early and financially inadequate retirement.

So while I troll the internet in an attempt to keep my rear seated and my weight reaching a maximum capacity for my size 34 Levi shorts, I discovered another way to make some money on the side: www.ejury.com. Certainly, the concept will not make me quit my day job, but I found this idea at least a little intriguing.

Apparently, lawyers pay the "Average Joe" to look over their pre-court cases and respond to certain elements of the case for cold, hard cash. The upside potential for earning some money is limited; it depends on the length of the case and the specific facts and time it takes to read over the sometimes grossly embellished details. Normally, an e-juror will be offered a deal between $5-$10. Jurors will be asked a series of questions, ranging from how much one party may be at fault, how much compensation should someone be held accountable, and other additional comments or concerns a juror might want to add at the end. According to a recent poll of jurors from the website, an average trial read-through and questionnaire will take approximately 35 minutes to finish. A beginner may take a little longer.
