Gangs Promoting Themselves on Myspace?

Recently I was told that the police make more arrests than one would think, thanks to Myspace. But just how effective is a few arrests vs an entire heap of different gangs?

Myspace is the number one source to get together with friends, however lately it has become the number one source to advertise yourself. I don't even visit the site any more because all I ever run into is wanna be bands trying to promote their music, or ugly chicks trying to get me to vote for them for some model award, or some crafty artist trying to sell their handmade crap to other Myspace visitors.

It's annoying, lame, and pretty much a kill joy to the original Myspace 'meet up with old friends' concept.

However when I was told that gangs are now promoting their symbols, their colors, and even their God damn weapons on their Myspace pages, I was more than intrigued. Why would these gangs be so stupid? It's simple really, they seem to think that Myspace is a free for all, they honestly think that Myspace is their space. But when you leave yourself open to all and any visits, well do realize that the rest of the world can see exactly what you are up to. Hell, we can even find you if your friends or you adds a comment about Friday night and to come hang out at such and such a place at such and such a time.

Some gangs think it is okay to promote yourself being a gangster, or tagging up someones fence and placing it in your photo bin for all to see. But the best part is, these idiots don't realize that the cops and the FBI are constantly monitoring Myspace for people just like this. They are looking in photos for any weapons, drugs, and tagging.

I had to delete that last comment... weird. Anyhow, thanks for stopping in smorg. If you look around myspace for a bit, you'll be amazed at how fast and easy it is to find them, in your area. They are everywhere.

Holy smoke... I'd never have thought of running into overt gang activity on MySpace either (not that I hang there...). Thanks for this 'heads up', matie. A good practical lesson for me and many, I think. :o) Cheers!

Thank you for the information. I had shut down my MySpace because of all the hackers and scammers. Was going to start another one up. But, think I will just leave well enough alone

Did you read about that woman who drove her son and his teen friends(who were in a gang) to a skate park to kill a 13-year-old boy in California? This happened last week. Terrible!

Watch out for the Fabricios! If they spread, every neighborhood will be pink.
