Oftentimes the little things are overlooked. Such as the break down of our environment around us - dust. After going to several places such as restaurants, homes, offices, and stores I have concluded that people have forgotten an important chore, dusting.

I find dust, literally on bunnies. In one home in particular I have recently visited, there are decor bunnies throughout the home. On top each little bunnies head lay a greater mass of dust bunnies. This home in particular hires their housework such as heavy cleaning, which in my book includes dusting, to be done every two weeks. Now, I know for fact that the hired help does not dust these bunnies. I know this for fact because I noticed this same dust when I was first introduced to this household three years ago. Not only is the original dust there, but there are layers, I mean literal layers.

To me, dusting is to be done at least once a week, at the bare minimum. Every day would be ideal, of course. However, for those of us with time restraints but still enough time to actually exist, twice a week keeps dust from ever being noticeable.

When I think of dusting, I don't mean just dusting the dining room table top. I mean every surface that can be touched with a ladder or without. If a surface exists, it can be dusted. I dust above my doors. I dust the floor trim. I dust the outlet covers. I dust above my fridge - every week. I dust things such as the toilet paper holder, the towel racks, light fixtures, ceiling fans, the back of the TV, window sills, keyboards, silver wear drawers, picture frames, the back of chairs, plant leaves, and I dust all the way down to the tiny little rocks that come in my Zen garden. I dust.

I thought that most people do this very activity as I during their own personal housecleaning procedures. Obviously I am wrong. Even the hired help that is paid to "deep clean" - which I still swear dusting is deep cleaning - does not think that dusting is an included chore.

Dusting is The Forgotten Chore

This would be one of the long lost and almost forgotten tool to use when dusting.

You're a veritable Dust Buster. The psychologist in me thinks you were somehow harmed by dust in childhood. The lazy dude in me wants you to come clean my apartment. Worst dust presence I ever saw: here in Philly we have a fantastic Rodin museum. But every sculpture is usually covered in a palpable layer of dust. It's a shame. And the worst part is, they pay people to just stand around & keep an eye on things. Can't one of 'em spend 15 minutes to swipe a damn feather duster over the art?
