The summer in Washington brings a little bit of everything weather wise. One day it can be 90 degrees outside and the next day it will be raining. I have lived here for all my 23 years and I have a few things that you can do with your summers around here under my belt. The summers here are humid and can be both hot or cold. When it is hot the only thing you can do is swim to shake the sweat or sit in an air conditioned house. When it is hot it is humid and when it is humid you sweat. There is no way to get around it. There are not a lot of people around western Washington that have swimming pools so that leaves you with the options of lakes, river, and salt water. We do have an abundant supply of all of there things though. With the ocean to the west and countless rivers, streams and lakes all the way to the east you can always find a place to cool off when it is hot.

The only down fall to the summer in Washington is that you can never guarantee that it will always be sunny. There are a few times each summer here that all of a sudden it will start raining in the middle of the warmest parts of the year. With that said I will suggest that you pack something other then just summer clothes if you are coming here to visit. You may never need them but trust me the one time you don't bring them will be the one time that it is pouring down rain in the middle of July. If you are pale like me then you may want to bring along some water proof sunscreen along with you and apply it frequently because you probably will burn.

One of my favorite summer spots is the ocean. It is always a million times cooler the inland and it will always make your spirits lift. Our ocean has everything from surfers to sunbathers and everything in between. The tons are small on the coast and the people are friendly. If you like to be social then you should try the towns of Ocean Shores and Long Beach. They are full of shops and little restaurants. They have a little but of everything including many nice tourist attractions. If you like the smaller, small town settings then you may want to visit the little towns surrounding these bigger ones. They are all so beautiful and the people are friendly and welcoming.
