Tammy Faye Messner, famous as the ex-wife of televangelist Jim Bakker, appeared on CNN on July 19 in an interview with talk show host Larry King.

Tammy Faye has been battling breast and lung cancer and is now considered terminal. She looked extremely frail, but retained her upbeat spirit as she talked about her trials. Tammy Faye is extremely emaciated in appearance, but continues to wear her trademark heavy eye makeup. If possible, the makeup is even heavier, with thick black eye liner dominating her thin face.

Larry King introduced the Tammy Faye interview compassionately, saying "It's been 16 months since our good friend and frequent guest Tammy Faye Messner appeared here on camera. She recently reached out to us, saying that talking to her public makes her feel stronger and wanting to do the interview that you're about to see, which we taped yesterday.

It may be hard to watch what inoperable cancer has done to her. It's tough for us to see Tammy Faye looking so weak...but as you are about to see, if she's 65 pounds, it is all heart.."

Tammy Faye is the former wife of televangelist Jim Bakker and former co-host of the PTL Club. The PTL Club was wracked with scandal for misuse of funds, sending Jim Bakker to prison. While Jim Bakker was incarcerated, Tammy Faye Bakker divorced him and remarried.

Tammy Faye's second husband is Roe Messner, who is also a builder of churches. Ron Messner claims to have built more than 1,700 churches since 1953.

Tammy Faye and husband spoke from Kansas City, Missouri, which is where they live. The couple recently moved to Kansas City to be near Roe's family.

Tammy Faye was weak and frail, but chipper and cheerful. Larry King asked here about pain and she replied that she had constant pain in her back and tummy. She is receiving hospice care at home.

Tammy Fay spoke frankly with Larry King. she spoke about her unbearable pain and suffering. She has gotten so thin, but has trouble eating. She talked of how she craved a nice hamburger, which she apparently can't tolerate. She thinks about eating the hamburger with relish, but I'm not sure if the hamburger will be in this life or the next.

Takeaways
  • Tammy Faye has terminal cancer.
  • She weighs 65 pounds.
  • Tammy Faye suffers physical pain.

I never cared for her in the early days and didn't watch here since, but what a terrible way to go. Well done.

I saw her on the show and she looked so frail. She's gone now though. May she rest in peace.

Wow is all I can say...you found something tough and treated it with such perfect tenderness. Jim Bakker has a book out about his time in prison, if you've not taken that one in...it's interesting. Way to write! Dana http://www.programit.blogspot.com
