Where CTW Countn Money stood before the $60,000 Bluffs Run Championship Finals, Yo My Mediator had also been just eight months ago. Mediator knew what it was like to have so much success early that wh
en you did lose, people needed to know why. The Council Bluffs, Iowa standout had won eight of his first ten starts, rocketing to stardom at the local oval, as had Countn Money, who had just had his first taste of defeat in his last race after taking the first eight events of his short career. Now, as the pair were side by side in the seven and eight holes for the big race on July 14th, the question of who the better dog was about to be answered, at least for the present time.

Bluffs Run Greyhound Park runs as rich a stakes schedule as you will find in the greyhound industry, and Yo My Mediator had already had a feel for what it was like to be in the finals of one of these contests. He had been one of the betting favorites in the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge back in May, but early trouble had relegated the 73 pound son of My John Q and My Twilite Star to the back of the pack in that one. For the Bluffs Run Championship, Mediator had drawn an eight hole, a box from which he had had some success from in the past. The leading winner at the current Bluffs Run meet with eighteen triumphs, Mediator would absolutely have to be in front to contend against this field.

Right next to him in the seven was the dog that had captured the attention of those who follow the sport, CTW Countn Money. Before he had trouble and run last from the five hole in his prior outing, the final elimination heat of four for this championship, Money had been money, going eight for eight and shooting up the Bluffs Run grading ladder like a fireman rescuing a child from a burning roof. The August 2005 male out of CTW Legendary had treated the grade As the same as the Ds and Cs, blowing to the turn in the 1,650 foot sprints no worse than second and then pulling out the win, and in very fast times. But he definitely was facing by far his biggest test in the Bluffs Run Championship, and not just in Yo My Mediator.
