It proved to be quite an interesting week of greyhound racing action at Mile High Greyhound Park in Commerce City, Colorado on the outskirts of Denver. Mile High featured racing on a variety of distances, from 330 yards to the 566 yard sprint and the 683 yard route, and all three courses saw some outstanding performances over them the week of July 9th through the 14th. From Sandhill Chris, who is the best sprinter on the grounds, to a very young puppy that may be one to watch; from a new dash star emerging from the shadow of an old one to a wily veteran calling down the Rocky Mountain thunder one more time, it was a great week at Mile High.

On the 9th it was the old gal Synergy, the almost four year old red bitch out of Gable Dodge that turned back the clock to her glory days, absolutely demolishing her Grade AA field, one that included the highly regarded Pat C Aboveboard. Synergy came out of the five box and was five in front to the turn on her way to a ten length embarrassment of this bunch in 31.44 for 566 yards, easily the day's quickest clocking.

The following card two days later on the 11th sent Sandhill Chris to post in the co-feature against Geno, winner of four of his last five. Chris had gone twenty-eight for sixty-seven on the tough Colorado circuit prior to hooking up with Geno, and this one became no contest early. Chris broke fast from the five and went to the front, while Geno never fired. At the turn it was Sandhill Chris by a pair, a margin he extended to eleven by the time the finish line was crossed in 32.19. The eleventh pitted Boyzhersheykisez against X's Kershaw and Luvisallweneed, a battle of three of Mile High's top sprinters. Hersheykisez emerged with the win, catching Kershaw late with Luvisallweneed embroiled in first turn troubles and rendered a non-factor in this heat.
