Paranormal Activity or Sleep Paralysis

What Do You Think?

My first experience with sleep paralysis came when I first moved away from home and was living in a college dorm room. When I awoke one morning, I was surprised to find I could not move. Every muscle in my body was frozen in place. I was clearly awake, but I could
not even open my eyes. Struggle as I might, I could not will my muscles to move. I began to concentrate on moving my toes. After what seemed like an eternity I was suddenly able to move them. That one movement freed the entire body and I was able to open my eyes and get up.

It happened frequently for a while.

One morning, it happened again, but something was different this time. In the corner of my room was a round bright light, so bright that I thought it must be the sun. Somehow, I was able to turn my head and look out the window and was surprised to find it was still the wee hours of predawn. Yet, here in my room was the brightest light I had ever seen. I laid there and closed my eyes to prevent the light from blinding me. I was unable to move, until suddenly, by once again wiggling a toe, I regained control of my body and was able to get up. The light was mysteriously gone.

I was more than a little surprised by the experience and wondered if this was a paranormal experience.

With a little research, I discovered none of this should be surprising. It does, after all, fit the classic symptoms of sleep paralysis. In fact, once I read about sleep paralysis, I accepted it as part and parcel of my experience and discounted any paranormal connections; but lately I have given it some thought.

What strikes me odd now is that episodes of sleep paralysis only happened during that period in my life, basically over a two year period, and it only occurred when I slept in that room. What strikes me as even odder is that my friend who lived down the hall was experiencing episodes of sleep paralysis during that same time period.

Wow. This does happen to people a lot. I really do believe that it is supernatural for most of this. It happened to me last night (for the thousanth time it seems). But this time it was a little different. I could actually feel it on my back. Usually I just feel a pressure leaning on one side of my bed. So I decided to look it up and stumbled across this page. Usually when it happens I struggle enough to break out of it. That wasn't the case lastnight. I tried to scream and all I could do was make muffled yelps. I just kept trying to scream and I think I must have blackened out. It's so freakin confusing to me. I really wish I could find out more.

I had this issue at my great grandmothers house in Puyallup WA. Her house was originally a small cabin that was added onto. I always had creepy feelings in the house when it was dark. Like something was watching me. My grandma and I are also really good at knowing things such as who is calling before we answer etc. It's wierd I know but it helps convince what this paralysis is to me. For some reason out of nowhere in this room I had an episode of P.S. in which some black bulky tall firgure (like fog) was standing at the foot of my bed. It scared me so intensly. I finally awoke and was terrified. Almost every night this happened. It would lean in to me closer each time. One night it touched my arm and I cannot describe the feeling. Like electricity i think, or kind of like the bends (from mustard gas i think). What i would imagine that to feel like. I finally was so terrified each night that I slept with the TV on. When i did this, the P.S. did not happen. If i stopped having the TV on

i just realize about that there's a lot of people with this issue, happened to me for years, including lucid dreams and REM, sometimes it was scary as hell when it felt like someone was trying to choke me and or pushing my back plus the feeling of the paralysis and your brain is awake, the thing is i think that when i'm in this state there's something more otherwise must be some kind of scientific explanation or something to cure it, because my experience with this has been for almost my entire life with some peaks, i used to be scared about sleep sometimes trying to evoid it as much as i could, so not been a pleasent thing at all, but still thinking when i'm in that state i can feel more things than usualy do so must something beyond it all

I have been experiencing S.P since the age of 15, I am currently 31 male. My episodes vary from once a month to even 4-5 times a month. I have experienced it just like everyone describes..The pressure or force that wakens me, the sounds (Buzzing, Electric sounds, even voices) and being paralyzed in bed with my eyes wide open. I have sometimes experienced visual images that range from fog or smoke to even a dark head hiding in the darkness. I have gone through episodes where I have tried to experiment during the S.P attack and tried getting up and have seen myself laying in bed, struggling to stand up. I have even fused myself to this fog/smoke that comes in through my room and have floated with it as it moves around the room. I have been doing research on this for many years and have found no conclusive evidence of why or what it is. Medical studies show that people experience the SAME symptoms but still have no answers on why it happens. I have talked it out with shrinks and pastors

My son is 21 and this has been happening for about 8 yrs. now, He isnt scared anymore, he said it's annoying, it happened a few days ago. I witnessed this, He was making weird noises, moaning But he had been asleep all but 3 min. He was on the couch I was on the computer. I went to see what was wrong and he was trying to move.. eyes were rolling trying to open, He said" He felt like a face was next to him and then...BOOM he was down ! I think it's more Than sleep paralysis, He had the gut feeling just before he went to sleep,Cause of the presence it was going to happen, And he had been asleep for just 3 min. if that long. I think We want logic through medical, expertise and there may be something else. We have lived in 2 different homes and he has had this happen at his friends homes as well, The day it happened I layed close to the couch to awaken him if it happened again, It didnt, I think he was more secure cause I was there, Even though he say's he isnt scared, I know my kids.

It hasn't happened since i got married and moved in with my husband in iur place together. And it doesn't happen often but when it does it really freaks me out. Whil im sleeping i am awaken by the sence of someone or something shaking my bed and then the feeling of tingling or sort of a shock that starts at my feet and runs through my entire body, its almost like something is going in my body thru my feet and exiting thru my head and of course my body is frizen with fear, not knowing what it is or whats happening. It also happened 2 times last night around 4:00 am on 7/6/08 actually it would have been this morning. I would love to know and understand what and why this happens every so often.

I had an episode of sleep paralysis a few nights ago. I was trying to go to sleep when I felt a wave of tingly energy run through my body, then faded, and I suddenly couldn't move. At this point I wasn't too concerned. I've had that happen once or twice before and merely drifted off to sleep. But this time was different. I felt a pressure on my bed, as if someone had just got on it. I assumed it was one of the cats jumping onto the bed and didn't worry about it. Then I heard a clear voice speaking to me and I felt like I was in danger, and I tried to move. I was laying on my side, staring at that side of my room, and couldn't even move my eyes. Then I felt like someone was leaning over me. I tried to sit up, but I just couldn't. After a couple of more tries to sit up, I finally mustered up all my strength, as if my life depended on it, and managed to sit up and look around. I saw nothing, and none of the cats were on my bed. That part freaked me out the most, after feeling like someone
