Cincinnati is home to many diverse cultures, and is rich in ethnic cuisine of all types. Indian food is especially predominant and there are many options for finding a great restaurant in the area.

I will start with my personal favorite, Mayura Indian Restaurant. Mayura is located in the area of town known as Clifton, in very close proximity to the University of Cincinnati and many other area businesses. All of your favorite classic Indian dishes are served at Mayura and they specialize in Southern and Northern dishes. The warm, rich ambiance of the eatery is quite inviting, and the Lamb Curry is priced just right at only $10.95. Along the lines of excellent pricing, there is a lunch buffet available between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM daily. The owner of this establishment is almost always in house, in full view and taking excellent care of his customers. Swamy Sunkara was born in South India and while attending the College of Business in Cincinnati received much encouragement from friends who enjoyed his cooking to open a restaurant. The city is certainly glad he took those suggestions, as Mayura is a treat for all who dine there.

Another excellent suggestion for fine Indian dining is Tandoor, located north of the city in an area of town known as Montgomery. Tandoor has been in business since 1985 and has since won much recognition for being a top notch establishment. In 1998 the National Academy of Restaurant Evaluation voted them “Restaurant of the Year”. Additionally, they have received much local praise and is, among the natives, a favorite and a staple. The Rogan Josh and Mattar Paneer are just two examples of the wonderful dishes you will find served at Tandoor. Monday through Saturday from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM you can stop in for the lunch buffet or fill your stomach from the tempting menu. In addition to their restaurant, Tandoor is also a full-service caterer. Be sure to call them for your next event, you will not be disappointed!
