The Creation Museum has garnered quite a bit of media attention. This is especially true in the Greater Cincinnati area where it is located. So, my wife and I decided to go check it out. Here is a review of my experience at the Creation Museum.First, the museum is in an odd location. Granted, it is located close to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. However, the airport isn't really located close to anything else. To get to the Creation Museum you travel on Interstate 275 into complete rural Kentucky until suddenly you see a large building with a wire dinosaur off to the side of the road. Don't get me wrong, the museum is easily accessible, it just happens to be surrounded by soybean fields.
Upon entering the grounds, I was shocked by the crowd. The Creation Museum was absolutely packed. There was a line out the door just to buy tickets. Once we purchased our tickets, we were ushered into another line, which brings me to a major flaw in the design of the Creation Museum. The Creation Museum is laid out in a progressive line that funnels every guest through the museum in a specific order. I was expecting your typical museum with large rooms allowing people to visit exhibits at their own pace. The Creation Museum though required you to basically wait in line throughout the entire display. It reminded me of a modern amusement park that has entertainment, displays, and videos along the way as you wait in line to ride a roller coaster. Also, the displays are full of information and require quite a bit of reading to fully grasp the concepts. Often, a patron in front of us would be interested in a particular exhibit and hold the entire line up for several minutes. This line style of viewing the exhibits resulted in me skimming over things in an effort not to hold others up and getting frustrated when others did take a long time.
