People from England often refer to themselves as either "English" or British". However, many people who are not familiar with the United Kingdom use the term "British" to mean "English" only, but this is an inaccurate use of the term that can cause a great deal of offence to someone who is from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. I am a British Citizen and they refused to honor my National Health card last year in England. I had to pay to see a doctor, for her to write a prescription, and pay for the pills. I paid into the N.H.S. for 25 years Sophie.
