My employer recently added a Prepaid Legal plan to the list of benefits they offered. Having a couple of impending estate and will legal questions, we went ahead and purchased the service. Little did we know that we would need to use the services of the prepaid legal service so quickly. No one imagines that they will need some type of insurance for legal help , but when you have it, it sure comes in handy. We decided that due to our children being almost grown, we needed to set up a will as soon as possible

We called our prepaid legal service, who suggested an attorney who was on their board. It is somewhat like belonging to an insurance company and having to go to a doctor on their list. Not all attorneys are on the same prepaid legal service list. They referred us to a couple of attorneys in the local area.

Prepaid legal services can help immensely with the cost of handling estate and will claims. You are allowed a certain number of visits and services that are
covered. After that, the attorney begins to charge whatever his usual and customary charges are. Listed below are six estate and will questions that prepaid legal services cover in their insurance.

1) Setting up a will. This is not a simple matter and includes more than simple finances. Who receives which items and how it is to be dispersed are also covered. Prepaid legal services cover the basics here.

2) Executor of the estate. Should you become incompetent due to disease or injury, you can set up an executor of your estate in advance. This is a wonderful service and merely entails having both parties coming up with an agreement and signing the paperwork.

3) There might be some confusion between what a trust is and what a will is. An attorney can help sort out the confusions. A will of course sets up who gets what items, where a trust states what the funds are to be used for, say a child's education. Our prepaid legal service covers setting up trusts also.

I've seen this advertised and wondered if it was worth the cost. It sounds like it'd be handy. Like you said, you never know when you're going to need legal services. :-)
