Every sports fan has their own personal tastes. There are some sports they like and some sports they dislike. Fans all like different teams, players, rules, and traditions. Therefore, I know a lot of people will disagree with me on these but there are some sports and sporting events that I just can't get into.

Homerun Derby - This is basically how the homerun derby contest goes. "Look at that homerun go." "Wow, look at that homerun." "There's a homerun." "Yup, homerun." "He hit a homerun." Exhilirating, really.

Kentucky Derby - Maybe I'm just not old enough, because it seems like the Kentucky Derby isn't as relevant now as it once was, but I really don't understand the fascination with the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby is the shortest big event in all of sports. If you blink, you're going to miss it. It is never worth all the hype it gets. I especially don't understand the ridiculous clothes everybody wears.

NASCAR - I'm from Alabama so I'll probably go into hiding for a few months after this confession. I don't like NASCAR. Could somebody please explain to me what there is to like about it? It is just cars driving in circles. I can see more excitement driving to the grocery store.

NFL Draft - I've already written an article about this so I'll keep it brief. Why do so many people like to watch the NFL Draft? It's basically two days of old people calling out people's names. I understand wanting to know what your team did in the draft but you could easily do something useful for the day and then see the results online aftewards. It's not like you're going to miss a last second shot or a great catch or anything.

Super Bowl - I know the Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year but I find it to be a joke. The Super Bowl is the one sport of the year where everybody across the country gathers with their friends for parties. Millions of people every where are joining up together to collectively...not watch the game. People don't care about the game. Most people can't tell you what happened or even who won. The Super Bowl is not the biggest sporting event of the year, it is the biggest commercial event of the year.

Takeaways
  • Homerun Derby contests are boring.
  • The Super Bowl isn't even about who is playing.
  • Cars driving in circles doesn't excite me.

As an ex-girlfriend to a very dedicated baseball fan, I totally agree with the mind-blowing boredom of watching that homerun derby thing.

Go to the Kentucky Derby. Sit in the infield near the third turn. You'll understand by either your third Mint Julep or 10:00, whichever comes first.

Oh, this was great. Any kind of race leaves me bored. The only reason people watch them is if they have money riding on the outcome or want to go into the zone. Tape the race FF up to the wreck, stumble, or finish line. Thats what they are watching for anyway.
