So, you are lucky enough to know someone that just had a baby. There are many items that the newborn will need in their first six months of life. Many items the parents might have registered for, but they have may have left off a few. Keep in mind that the parents had a lot of things on their mind as they prepared for the wonderful experience of the birth of their child. Even now they might not be easy to reach to get some suggestions as to what the newborn needs. As a father of a twenty month old I can offer you some suggestions from my past experience going through the early months of my son's life along with my wife as we raised him.

Clothes

Clothes are always important. Keep in mind that nobody knows for sure how long or how much their newborn will weigh until the baby is actually born. They might have an estimate and be able to use that for sizes on their baby registry. In reality after the baby is born they will probably realize they were off on the estimate and with newborns that can make a difference in the size clothes they need. So clothes are always a good present for a newborn after their birth. Even if the estimate was perfect, many people fail to realize how often a newborn has to be changed each day. They can go through six outfits easily in one day. The more outfits the parents have, the better off they will be. So again this makes clothes a great gift. You can also purchase clothes that the newborn will grow into in the coming months. Parents will receive a lot of clothes for the size their child is as a newborn but not as many for the subsequent months.

Diapers

Takeaways
  • Keep in mind that newborns are changed over 6 times a day so clothes are a great gift.
  • Diapers are a gift that serve as a money saver and a time saver for the family.
  • In general newborns and infants will have limited interest in toys.
Did You Know?
Pacifiers might seem like a strange item to stock up on for the parents, but in the end they will need many more than they ever anticipated.
