I am sure that everyone is well aware of the Apple iPhone by now. If you aren't than you are probably living under a rock. I can not remember the last time a cell phone has received such hype, and most of it is rightfully so. However, what if this Apple iPhone isn't exactly what it is caught up to be? I am very adament about my cell phones, mainly because, it's my life line to some extent. I can't imagine my life without my cell phone. And seeing this, I was quite excited about the Apple iPhone and all of the possibilities that it brought to the table. However, after researching this phone I have quickly decided that the Apple iPhone will never be my Sidekick.

If you have read my other articles, than I'm sure you have found my review of my T-Mobile Sidekick 3, if not click here to read the article. As you can see, I absolutely love my Sidekick 3, however, for about a week, I was seriously considering giving up on my beloved phone and switching to a new and supposedly, "more technologically advanced" cell phone. However, I am very glad that I refused to do so. So how do the two phones compare to each other, and why am I choosing the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 over the Apple iPhone. Well, to gain a better understanding of both phones, I have compiled a short list of their pros and cons.

With the Apple iPhone, you get some of the greatest features that have ever come out on a cell phone. However, most of these features are great in concept, but their actual functions are slightly overrated. First off, with the Apple iPhone, there is a new feature, "Visual Voicemail." Now, this particular feature really excited me, because how it works is that you no longer have to listen to all of your voicemails to get to the one that you would like to listen to. To be honest, I love this feature. However, my Sidekick has the option to skip through your voicemails with just as much ease, by simply clicking the "7" to delete the message or "9" to save it, you can jump to the next voicemail. Not as simple as just visually choosing your message, it still is better than past phones where you are forced to listen to a complete voicemail before moving on to the next one.

Takeaways
  • Apple iPhone uses the EDGE data network when not using a Wi-Fi Connection
  • The phone quality on the iPhone is nothing extremely special, and can be unreliable.
  • The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 has nearly all of the features of the iPhone, for $100 less

I currently have the tmobile sidekick 3 it was made by danger which is now bought by microsoft so the sidekick/getto or aspen which are coming out this summer will be better because it will be made by microsoft. But I have the sk3 and I have really had a bad experience my sk3 fell and the screen got ejected and I had to buy a new one. It has no flash!!! And the apple iphone which I'm getting next year when my contract with tmobile ends does have flash!!!! All you need to do is download it. The iphone has google maps 3d maps of earth zoom in to your house and work or go on a virtual vacation. So iphone BEATS UP the sk trilogy itself I'd sucks 3 sucks,lx sucks, and I think the microsoft sk aspen will also SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha wow, i had an SK3 before i had my iphone. so i know all the pros and cons. and the sidekick deffinetely has way more cons. the worst being the sidekick has the tendency at certain time to loose all of your contacts and offers no connection at freak times. since nothing is really stored on the phone. this has happened to everyone i know of that has had a sidekick. I have dropped my iphone numeros times on concrete, and still have not a single scratch on the screen, sidekick screens cant even take loose change in your pocket.

first and foremost you are an idiot. a worthless critic and even worse Cell Phone Reviewer. use the eyes in your head and the brain i hope is behind them to read up about the subjects you are going to critique. Even with the information available to the public as of the time this was published, it was easy to see that the iPhone is vastly superior to the Sidekick 3. A side-by-side comparison based on features the two devices share shows that the iPhone's take on them is much more fluid and intuitive. If you want to talk bad about the iPhone just list the feature sets of the two phones and let the pros and cons become apparent. iPhone - no mms, no bluetooth transfer, no voice record, no expandable memory. Sidekick - Mobile internet not full html browser, poor screeen resolution, old standard of 1.3 vs 2.o or better mp, half the talk time of the iphone. Finally as the most important mistake in this whole "review", the EDGE network utilized by the iPhone is in essence exactly the same as

ummm....i think you did this review without actually seeing an iphone. 1. the screen is glass....not plastic like the sidekick......so it would be harder to scratch. 2. visual voicemail is way way faster than pressing 7 and 9.....all phones can do that 3. you cant recieve email on a sidekick can you? (really im unsure, but i dont think so) 4.pages load in 45 seconds on the sidekick......my pages load in about 10 with edge........and a quarter of that with wifi.......and the iphone has the real internet......not the crappy mobile internet

OHJ! and what I want and cannot find is a phone. That's it. Not a camera. Not a websurfer. Not even text messaging. A simple damned pone. Nor can I find a good resolution digital camera that is just that: a freakin camera. Not a video recorder. Not a thousand and one different feature. A camera. Urgh.

You make some valid points. However the voicemail feature, with "7" to delete and "9" to save, isn't exclusive to your phone, it's dependant upon what sort of voicemailbox your cellular provider utilizes; it is irrespective of the phone.
