This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the annual NHRA Mopar Mile Hi Nationals drag racing event. I was there to do some production work for a radio personality so I had a media access pass. The event itself was absolutley spectacular, really loud, but spectacular. It was a rare treat to have such access so I wanted to document the event. I brought along two cameras. My trusty old 35mm film camera and my Cannon Power Shot Pro1 8.0 mega pixel digital camera. Here are my impressions of the Cannon Powershot Pro1;Photo Quality;
My brand of choice for cameras has always been Cannon so when I made the move to digital it was only logical to buy a cannon. I was not disappointed with the quality of the photos. The colors were very vivid and lifelike. The pictures are crisp and clear. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for picture quality.
Ease of Use;
Again a key selling point for me with Cannon Cameras is the fact that it doesn't take an engineering degree to use it. Most amateur photographers who have ever spent any time around a camera can take this one out of the package and start shooting photos without much reading and brain damage. Overall ease of use 5 out of 5 stars.
The Software;
Cannon Digital Cameras come with proprietary software that you have to load onto your computer in order to download the photos off your camera to your computer via the supplied USB cable. The software is pretty nice to have anyway. It organizes your photos automatically, based on user defined settings. It also has a photo editing suite as well. This is so easy a four year old could edit photos with it like a pro. The downside is the actual editing capablities are somewhat limited, so if you have something like Adobe Photo Shop this editing software will seem pretty elementary. It is meant more for the beginner and those without any other software for photo editing. Since photography is quite a hobby for me I have tons of editing software. I give the software 5 out of 5 stars for the ease of use and 3 out of 5 overall.
