Food Corner follows two fine Market Street eatery traditions - that of having a very direct name, and of serving a jumble of different types of food. It's located on Market at the corner of Sixth, a couple blocks from both the Civic Center and Powell MUNI stations. The menu's substance is mostly centered around various breakfast offerings and Chinese fast food of the sort kept under a hot lamp and served up cafeteria style. The breakfast itself is a point of interest, as it's one of the few places in this area (or even in the city really) to get a cheap stack of pancakes. Indeed, 3 hot cakes and eggs ran only about 4 bucks. It's not haute cuisine but it did the trick. I also noticed, during my 9 A.M. visit, that the chow mein and fried rice were already piled high and ready to be served. So if you've got a jonesing for Chinese fast food noodles in the early hours, I suppose this is your place.
