A Review of Thai Chili at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Thai Chili is one of the few "authentic" Thai cuisine restaurants in the Washington DC. During my last night in DC, I decided to try something new. Within the last few years, the city of Washington DC has definitely changed a whole lot. The place has definitely been made more trendy. Thai Chili has indeed picked a very good location at what was once known as the MCI Center now known as the Verizon Center. It has definitely picked a good place due to what's at the Verizon Center. Thai Chili is located nicely on the first floor of the main area of the Verizon Center. The Verizon Center hosts the Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA), Georgetown Hoyas (Georgetown University), and the Washington Capitals (NHL). The Verizon Center tends to get pretty populated at night especially during Fridays and Saturdays. I was there on Friday before I had to leave before going back to Florida.
Upon entering Thai Chili, I saw it had a very modern and very trendy setting atmosphere. I felt pretty calm and relaxed upon entering the restaurant. The service was pretty great. The hostess kindly greeted me as I entered and then she walked me towards a nice table near the bar since I was by myself. Yes, I tend to find that eating by myself is pretty peaceful. I don't have anybody telling me what I can or cannot eat/drink. The place had caught my attention and I wanted to really try something new and there was the restaurant.
The waitresses were very fast to respond. I wanted a seven and seven the waitress responded in an instant. That was pretty good service. The music in the background was pretty calm and ambient which was fitting. It helped me relax. The music really complimented the design and the colors of the restaurant's interior.
But the most important thing of the restaurant was the food. I wanted to eat something light and didn't feel like ordering appetizers. Before eating, I had bought a ticket to watch Blood Diamond starring Leonardo DiCaprio. My dish was a chicken dish with peppercorns. I have to say that the dish was pretty great, I enjoyed everything. I wished I had the time to stay and try out everything else but time was of the essence.
