I was driving down Venice Boulevard, Los Angeles when my steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably. Thankfully I wasn't going too fast on the road because when the steering wheel did it's thing, I found it extremely difficult to get control of the thing. After frantically craning my head around I noticed the sign for J D Auto Mechanics to one side and decided to park my car and go there for help.

There were other LA car mechanic shops around but J D Auto Mechanics was the service place closest to where I was so that's where I headed. Everyone inside J D Auto Mechanics seemed really busy with repairs but thankfully I found my way to the store manager and I told him my problem. Before long, the manager of the J D Auto Mechanics asked one of his mechanics to go with me and check out what was wrong with my car parked not so far away from the shop.

They had to haul my car to the J D Auto Mechanics shop for further and proper assessment. After a while of waiting and nail biting, the J D Auto Mechanics repairman handling my car comes to me to inform me that the problem with my car was that the screws in the front wheels were not secured. He further informed me that if I had been driving faster than I was at the time and if I had gone longer without stopping to check on the problem, the screws would've come completely off and the possibility of my wheels falling off as I drove was a good possibility.

I was very shocked to hear about this piece of news. Not three hours earlier, before reaching Venice Boulevard and the J D Auto Mechanics shop, I had been to some random tire repair shop to have a flat tire replaced. Apparently it is possible that they turned the screws on incorrectly so that now I have ended up with treadles screws that offer no assurance whatsoever on keeping my wheels where they should be.

It's one thing to have made such a stupid mistake for a place that is supposed to specialize in car tire problems but it's another thing altogether to purposely omit the incident to me. By not telling me about their error, they have clearly put my life at stake. They have turned my car into an accident waiting to happen.

Did You Know?
Thankfully, nothing really untoward happened after I pulled out of J D Auto Mechanics. My car was fine and my wheels didn't wiggle again. Needless to say, I know now how to change a flat tire.
