In 1997 I was diagnosed with an affliction that the doctors called, Fibromyalgia. Well, I had never heard of it and thought it was a life-threatening disease, My doctors explained the theory is that fibromyalgia is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. What isn't cause by a chemical imbalance in the brain?
The doctors wanted to immediately write out a series of prescription drugs that would combat the various symptoms of fribromyalgia. Now, I am not one to take a bunch of prescription or over the counter medication. So I decided that after learning the various symptoms, such as sudden pangs of pain in places such as my back, neck, legs, arms, hips etc. that there had to be a better way to combat and win the fight against this mysterious affliction that the doctors had diagnosed regarding my situation. So I researched Fibromyalgia and found my own natural ways to fight fibromyalgia.

Here are some tips for anyone who suffers from this affliction:

Stay active, exercise daily even if it is just a walk around the block.

Take long hot baths or showers to relax all of your muscles as fibromyalgia affects your muscular system.

Keep stressful thoughts and activities at a minimum-as stress can cause all kinds of aches and pains

Take a vitamin supplement as the food we consume does not contain all of the nutrients we all need in the course of a day.

Sit back and take a look at what you are eating-some foods can cause undo stress to your system without your being aware of it

Depression is one symptom of fibromyalgia-you could take an anti-depressant, but positive thinking can combat this in a number of ways-use mind over matter-I have used Yoga Techniques to calm the mind, think positive thoughts and to control the depression symptoms.

Sleep apnea is another symptom that many may have-make sure you are getting plenty of rest and relaxation time-take time out for yourself-an hour or two a day-take a nap-rest is a key ingredient in combating the depression of the mind and fatigue of the muscular system.

Thank you for your comments M.S Medina I appreciate you taking the time to read my article and comenting on it. There seems to be millions of women and even men who have FM. Most of the people I have talked with have stated that it was caused by some sort of "trauma" in their lives. Mine appeared after an accident I had in 1997. Good luck. I am not currently on any medication for FM and I use these techniques on a daily basis to prevent "flare-ups" of pain.

Interesting article. I too have FM. I have used some of your tips myself. Sometimes they help. Good info though.
