Why I Choose to Shop at Target Instead of Wal-Mart

I try avoiding Wal*Mart. I will for the most part go out of my way to go to Target and spend more money just so I can have a pleasant shopping experience. But why though? Why would I go and spend more money at a different shopping center just to buy basically the same items?

Well I have compiled a list of exactly what I hate about Wal*Mart, and why I'd rather spend more money elsewhere:

1. Wal*Mart stores, and that includes every single flipping one I have been to, always has piles of junk in the middle of their isles. These piles never have any short cuts in between, so I am forced to go down the entire isle just to get back around. It's a no U turn zone indeed.

2. The isles aside from being piled down the middle with junk are too small. I always find myself squeezing by other peoples carts, and practically taking off their kids fingers that are sticking out from the sides.

3. The other shoppers. Is it just me, or does every single rude SOB shop at Wal*Mart? You have your other shoppers whom stop carts in the middle of isles, shoppers who nudge you out of the way, cursing shoppers, and the slow shoppers. The ones that never ever move out of the way.

4. The fact that there is never anyone around to help. Yet when you do find someone wearing the famous blue coat, they tell you that 'it is not their department.' Instead of ringing in for someone they simply walk away.

5. The clearance section. I know this may be some folks favorite spot in any store, and usually it is my favorite spot as well. However when Wal*Mart says clearance, they are basically saying, 'come and buy all of our broken, filthy, unboxed junk'. The clearance isle at Wal*Mart consists of broken garden decorations, open candy, stepped on packages, broken toys, used shoes, filthy used clothing, and packages that look like someone played kick ball with them. The prices for this junk in the 'clearance' isle not to mention is also way too high for what they are trying to sell you.

You are sooo right! And another thing about Walmart - the lighting. Good lighting really makes a difference. The one near my apartment is dark and has really depressing lighting. I hate being in there. The brand new Target across the street is always bright and the lighting just seems to make me feel more cheerful.

Does anyone know how to contact walmart headquarters? They messed up my daughters medicine and I am really angry! It made her very sick. Thank you

We have 2 or 3 local walmarts, all of them have been the same. I still find myself in there once in awhile because its closer to home. I hate being there though, I always have something happen, to the point where I end up leaving in a hurry.

I have to agree with you. We don't have a target, but, Shopko is much nicer than Walmart.

That's so interesting, because over here (in CA) our Wal-Mart puts Targt to shame in most aspects (but I must admit that Target does keep a cleaner store with wider ilses). Man - you should contact the Wal-Mart headquarters and let them know how bad yours is - that's terrible! I don't blame you shopping Target! If our Wal-Mart was like that, I'd shop Target, too. Take care, MZ
