The wife and I love Christmastime more than any other time of the year. We'll start listening to Christmas music early in November, most likely have our tree up before Thanksgiving, and begin our holiday shopping well before Black Friday. In summer months full of 90 degree afternoons Christmas can feel like it is years away. This doesn't have to be the case, though. Like many others the wife and I enjoy celebrating Christmas in July. While we don't go all out as we do for our December celebration Christmas in July is still a fun way to celebrate the best time of the year, even if the season is still five months away. Here are some of the things we'll be doing throughout the next couple of weeks to celebrate Christmas in July.

First way to celebrate Christmas in July: Start Christmas shopping

It may seem a bit early to start Christmas shopping but the fact is there are some great deals that can be found in July. Hallmark, Carlton Cards, and Kirkland's are just a few examples of stores that always have Christmas ornaments, cards, and/or decorations in July. Most stores will have Christmas merchandise on sale during the summer as well, making it beneficial for the buyer. Just last year I bought my grandmother's present in July and saved roughly 50 percent of what it was being sold for in November. Beautiful.

Second way to celebrate Christmas in July: Listen to some Christmas music

This is a rather simple thing you can do while you're at home or in the car. Break out those dusty Christmas CDs that haven't seen the light of day since December 26, 2006 and rock around the Christmas tree. If you're not that ambitious may I suggest logging onto Live365.com. Live365.com has numerous stations that stream Christmas music 24 hours a day. I recommend the Christmas Broadband station.

Third way to celebrate Christmas in July: Bake Christmas candy or Christmas cookies

I've heard of a lot of people who do this! Maybe I should try it out next July. Personally, I could listen to Christmas music all year long, I love it!

Aww, what a neat idea. I bet it can take your mind off of everything and brighten your spirits for a while. :) We have a Santa's Workshop here that opens in late winter, and you can see the elves and Santa and everything. I bet that'd be neat to do with my son when he's older:)

Great article, Zac - you can always put the candy canes/peppermints in a heavy brown bag on a sturdy table and 'pound' them into small, fine pieces. I'm sending my two daughters up to your place so that they can celebrate with you - they adore Christmas as well. Having 'relatives' for Christmas is part of the holiday as well! :)

These are all great ideas. Makes me want to make a batch of Christmas cookies, turn down the air conditioning, and play some Christmas music. I loved this! Thanks for sharing.

Christmas in July - great stuff. I lived in the Philippines for a year and a half. Over there, they start saying Merry Xmas in September. For them, any month that ends with "ber" is Christmas time.

Okay, where's Zac and what did you do to him? Please tell us he's okay. I can't believe the guy who wrote the John Rambo article is the same person as the one who wrote this one!

Great article Zac! My birthday is in August and my kids and I started a tradition a few years ago that we bake Christmas cookies on my birthday. We love it!!

By-the-way, you can find crushed peppermints in the baking aisle. They come in handy during the real thing when you have thousands of treats to make :)
