Like most school's in the PAC-10, you can always count on Stanford to be actively engaged in a good recruiting campaign, and this year will be no different. Already on board for the incoming freshman class of 2008 are two blue chip recruits, Texas quarterback Andrew Luck and California wide receiver Christopher Owusu. These two talented newcomers are a sure bet to add their names to the great legacy of Cardinal football.

Andrew Luck :

Jim Plunkett and John Elway are among the great quarterbacks that have passed through the University of Stanford. Pretty soon you may have to add the name of Andrew Luck. Andrew, the son of former NFL quarterback (and West Virginia Alumni) Oliver Luck and the top rated high school quarterback in Texas, announced this year that he plans to attend Stanford next year.

Luck is sold on both the school's football program as well as its academic offering, though it also doesn't hurt that the school's head coach is a former NFL quarterback. The 6-4, 215 pound high schooler completed an outstanding junior year at Stratford High in Houston that saw him pass for over 2,900 yards and 27 touchdowns while throwing away only 6 passes.

Blessed with an abundance of physical talent, Andrew posses pin point accuracy and completed over 68 percent of his passes. Luck is also a highly mobile passer, who makes use of his 4.7 speed in the 40 to roll out effectively from the pocket. Though some criticize his mechanics and delivery, he still throws the ball with great velocity, and has the poise, intelligence and leadership skills needed for the position.

Hoping to stay sharp during the summer before his senior year, Andrew showcased his talents at this years Texas 7-on-7 State Championships in July. This fall Luck hopes to lead his Stratford Spartans to a defense of the states District 19-5A championship, a goal he would like to meet before heading off to Stanford next year.
