Do you suffer from oily, blotchy skin? If you are searching for a facial scrub that will help you to deal with oily or acne prone skin, then the Medicated Apricot Scrub by St. Ives® could be the right product for you. The facial scrub comes in a 6oz (170g) squeezy bottle. The product is not tested on animals, which is good news for animal lovers. You can buy a bottle of the Medicated Apricot Scrub from Walgreen's for $3.79. The information contained on the bottle is very detailed, but still eye catching. The bottle is white with blue writing. It states that it is a Medicated Apricot Scrub and that it is meant to control blemishes and blackheads. I was attracted to the bottle because it said it "gently exfoliates to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells that can clog pores". It also stated on the bottle that it was oil free and ideal for oily/acne prone skin. I do not have acne, but my skin is quite oily, so I thought I would give the product a try.
Directions for use are very simple to follow. Simply moisten your face and then squeeze a small amount of the facial scrub onto your face using wet fingertips. Then gently massage it into the skin for about 1 minute before rinsing it off, trying to avoid all eye contact. The facial scrub can feel quite abrasive if you rub too hard, because it has a rough, grainy texture. This is what helps to clean thoroughly. But if you rub too hard, you will end up with a red, sore face.
One of the ingredients used in the Medicated Apricot Scrub is Salicylic Acid. According to Acne.org, Salicylic Acid is a chemical compound that treats a lot of problems such as corns, warts, psoriasis, and dandruff. This product can prove harmful if it is ingested or inhaled. Fortunately, the medicated apricot scrub contains only 2% Salicylic Acid, so it is unlikely to cause any harm to your skin. To ensure that you do not suffer any skin irritation, it is best to only one type of topical acne medication at once.
