The other night I was walking into my kitchen and noticed an ant hurrying across the floor to get out of my way. Without giving the creature a second thought I stepped on. To my dismay the ant remained alive but was barely able to move. As I sat there watching and waiting for his next move, I wondered whether God considered us all to be ants. Does God get a kick out of watching us struggle through life? Does he enjoying watching us burn under the magnifying glass, like so many young boys love to do with insects. Does God really care whether we make it out alive?

As I continued to watch this ant struggle, I said to myself if God really wants to save this little ant, he will. For the next few minutes I watch the ants legs move wildly about, convinced that he would surely tire himself out and that would be the end of his life. Within minutes the ant had flipped himself back onto his legs and began to hobble away. I smiled to myself as I watch him run for cover, realizing that God does want to save us all but we need to be willing to help ourselves.
