According to a press release issued by Ice Energy, the Ice Bear systems developed by Ice Energy result in lowered harmful emission released by Los Angeles' energy needs. Results of an independent study conducted by an environmental consulting firm, E3Ventures, showed that the Ice Bear systems can provide meaningful benefits to the environment.

The Ice Bear systems help to reduce harmful emissions by storing power that is generated at night during off-peak energy consumption periods. The stored power is then used during the peak energy consumption daytime hours. The energy shifting technology of the Ice Bear systems moves the demand for electricity from generators which produce more harmful emissions to generators which obtain energy from cleaner sources. The Ice Bear units are then able to run off of a mix of energy which releases up to three times fewer emissions than regular air conditioning systems. Another environmental benefit of using the Ice Bear system is that the Ice Bear units consume less electricity. Since the unit consumes power that is transmitted at night when temperatures are cooler, less electricity is lost through transmission across the grid.

Los Angeles is plagued by atmospheric inversions that are capable of keeping polluted air close to the ground. The atmospheric inversions can increase local smog levels. The Ice Bear units help to reduce the amount of pollution that is trapped in these inversions by reducing harmful emissions. The beginning results of the E3Ventures study revealed that one Ice Bear unit could reduce up to 104 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions and up to 9.28 grams of nitrogen oxide emissions; these amounts of emissions are over half of the emissions that are released by a typical California passenger car.
