How to Parkour

The Hot New Running Trend

The hot new fitness trend Parkour(freerunning) is more than a sport, Think of running through a park and touring its extending structure. But climbing up them when you encounter them, instead of passively going around. It's a way of living and a state of mind. In an age when everyone is
sick to death of all the equipment in the gym and running out(no pun intended) of interesting ways to work out.

If you have seen the Nike commercial where the chiken chases the man, you know what parkour is. If you haven't seen it or heard of it, it's fast running, except the action doesn't stop when one encounters a building, the parkouriste just goes over and up them. Nothing stands in the way of the track or path. An obstacle to the left gets jumped over due to a leap off the wall to the right.

Overcoming obstacles and looking for new paths - sound like a challenge mentally or physically. But whether you're young or old, novice or an expert -it can be practiced anywhere, whether in a country or a town. In the extreme version flexibility, strong kneecaps, and durable shoes are a must. But for someone less fit, just imagine getting through a difficultly landscaped garden with rocks and tree stumps and mounds and highs and lows. it's like that. But done fast, and runnng.

The aim of Parkour training is to test your capacity to evolve. Everyone can walk, but can the fastrunner must keep up the pace and keep the flow of motion smooth over any terrain? If you're running in a certain direction and a building is in  the way, the challenge is to work your way up and over it. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, so parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of many jagged buildings, rails, protrusions, or other typical public structures.

Okay, you baited the hook and caught me. I don't run all that often, but the next time I do, I'm going to try this. Never heard of Parkour, but what better way is there to really get fit--and naturally?
