Every year tons of Illinoisians look forward to the Illinois State Fair down in Springfield. However, according to illinois.gov, now the 10 day long state fair is looking for volunteer help in a bunch of different areas of the festival.

Volunteers can work in the information booths, various displays in the buildings, the front gate to take tickets, and at the Illinois State Fair Museum under the Grandstand. Some jobs are in air-conditioned buildings too.

"The Illinois State Fair is an exciting event that draws nearly three-quarters of a million people to the fairgrounds in Springfield each year. The men and women who donate their time to the fair are a big part of making this event a successful one," said Illinois State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick.

The Illinois State Fair needs volunteers in all of these areas:

-Information Booths: The fair is looking for volunteers to work at the six information booths throughout the grounds. This job includes handing out information and assisting fairgoers. The booths are in busy spots too. There are booths across from the north end of the Grandstand, on Main Street, South of the pedestrian tunnel, Livestock Center, Gate 2, and Sangamon Avenue. Shifts are also extremely short. Shifts are from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

-Illinois State Fair Museum under the Grandstand: Volunteers are needed to help set up displays in the museum. 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Aug. 3-9; Aug. 10-19, greet fairgoers and introduce the museum; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

-Emmerson Building Office assistant: Help out in the State Fair office from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Duties will include typical office duties.

-Floaters: This job is great if you want the opportunity to browse the fair but also help out, this is the volunteer job for you. This job includes assisting people throughout the fairgrounds.

-Exposition Building: Here volunteers are needing to greet fairgoers and hand out daily schedules to the public. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
