Biography of Rihanna

Real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty born in the St. Michaels parish of Barbados on Febuary 2, 1988. Many people classify her as a dancehall singer when in reality she is a R&B singer.When she was young, she started singing to her family and friends, just for plain entertainment. Rihanna got involved in the Music in her early teens. She won a beauty pageant contest at her school along with performing Mariah Careys " Hero" at her school talent show. Living in the remote island she never imagined stardom that would later be her fate.

As fate may have it New Yorker producer Evan Rogers was vacationing in Barbados with his wife when someone turned him onto the very talented Ms. Rhianna. He asked her to sing any song she pleased and her talent blew him away. As the producer of some very famous artists including stars such as NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson, Evan Rogers offered Rihanna a opportunity to record some music. Rihanna recorded some demos that caught the interest of Def Jam president "Jay-Z". Which in turn led to an audition and a signed contract with the record company right on the spot.

Rihanna released her first single "Pon de Replay" which became an instant hit with its very upbeat dance numbers.The song ultimately hit the billboard charts placing it at number 3. However Hip-Hop Mogul Jay-Z was concerned that the song may upstage the singer and make her a one hit wonder. With time and more hits his concerns went down the drain because her vocal talents stood out to where it was guarunteed she would not be a one hit wonder, but a very talented and loved R&B singer. Her first album Music of the Sun sold over a million copies, following with her sophmore album A Girl Like Me in 2006 following her third album Good Girl Gone Bad in 2007. Both albums continued her success allowing her to become one of the biggest names in the 21st century.
