Wives, Stand by Your Man and His Cheating Heart

Most wives are absolutely outraged when their husbands are caught pants down in the arms of another woman. "Adultery" they scream with a shrill voice resounding with murder. "I got the ring and she got the man," is the refrain to that.

For some wives who are well bred and not into bloodletting, it is the woman's fault...the other woman charmed him, enticed him...got him into bed with the help of a wizard or juju man. For other women who really do not want to be publicly humiliated the divorce court happens to be the only face-saver. Others will just stand by their men.

Whatever the case it still takes two to tango.

For the sake of the children most women forgive and try as much as they can to forget...what with school fees to pay and shoes to be replaced and all that tosh. Keeping the family together is a wife's long-term plan always. Single parenthood is rather hard work and alimony is not all the money he has in his pocket or bank account...it defeats the whole object if the other woman can have him. That is hardly fair.

What is fair is to have him apologise a hundred times and more till he is purple in the face.

If the man is a 'big man', that is a VIP, minister, president etc then the woman must be seen to be supportive or else the public could descend on her with full venom. The Hilary Initiative is the best option or else she will be blamed for her husband's adultery. Ironically without HI people would whisper things like "how could he have married a horrible unforgiving woman like that eh?"

In the glare of gossipmongers, the uninformed, the inexperienced and other sanctimonious offshoots, the parody becomes unreal as the woman stands by her man all the way through hell and back.

There are however several ways for her to get her own back in the long run. A man who cheats should find a power shift in the family as the woman begins to have more respect in the eyes of the children and their friends.
