When you first sign up with Associated Content it can become so overwhelming that all thoughts of writing fly out the door. Before you begin reading up on all the wonderful, helpful tips and articles, what you really need to do first is brainstorm for article topics and write a few basic articles to get you started on your way to becoming a prolific Associated Content writer.

The best place to start brainstorming for article topics is to think about you. Ask yourself in depth questions as you review the basic areas of your life such as Work and Job, Marriage or Dating, Parenting and Kids, Family and Friends, Hobbies or Interests, and Extracurricular Activities.

To start with, a few questions you can ask yourself are - (take a pen and paper out right now and start writing down the first thing that comes into your head as you read these questions) -

What Riles Your Temper?
Mine is people using cell phones while driving. I actually started writing an article on this topic after a close call while driving home from work one day. I was so angry that I was able to free write and then, to back up my anger, I researched some statistics online and added them to my article. Because this issue was such a hot button for me it was pretty easy to write. When writing on a hot button issue, make sure you have a good argument and do some good research before you finalize the article.

What Is Your Job? Do You Have Any Specific Training? What Are You An Expert At?
At first I didn't even think about writing about on the topic of my area of work expertise. But once I realized it was something I could write about, I brainstormed a list of ideas and am in the process of writing some interesting Human Resources articles.

Where Do You Live? Are There Any Community Events Or News? Any Great Restaurants Or Places To Go/See?
I did a search on Associated Content for the town I live in and noticed that this is an area that I can write a lot of articles on because no one else is really writing about Huntington Beach. And these articles have been my highest page views.
