As everyone knows, girls like to get stuff. More specifically, girls like to get stuff from their friends, particularly males whom they may be romantically interested in. And as we also all know, the buying of stuff can get rather heavy on the wallet or the credit card bill. In order to make things a little simpler (and cheaper), I have decided to devote a brief article with a few gift ideas that will make that special girl smile, but will not make your pocketbook dead.

As a general rule, the receiving of "stuff" can be just as special as the gift itself. By this, I simply mean what the ancient proverb states: It's the thought that counts. We girls enjoy presents they say, "Hey, I was thinking about you" over presents that mumble, "I figured I should buy you something and this was on sale and the quickest thing I could grab." In other words, it's not necessarily the price you purchased it for, but the thought you purchased it with. With that in mind, this article will focus primarily on gifts that you spend more time creating than making the money to pay for.

The first item/gift that I would suggest is one that will require a bit of work and reading on your part-cooking. Go ahead and humble yourself to the point of baking her favorite cookies. While I realize this may force you to do things you've never done before, like reading a cookbook and shopping in the baking goods section of the grocery store, I can almost guarantee you that she will be pleasantly surprised. Although you may question your cooking skills, with the help of an oven timer and careful obeying of cookbook instructions, you should find yourself successful.
